Ebb collects nothing.

Last updated 17 October 2026. Applies to the Ebb apps for iOS and Android.

Ebb is a menstrual cycle tracker that runs entirely on your device. It has no accounts, no servers, no analytics and no advertising. Your diary is never sent to us, because there is no "us" to send it to.

What Ebb collects

Nothing. Ebb has no user accounts and no servers. It does not use analytics, crash reporting services, advertising identifiers or tracking of any kind.

Where your data lives

Everything you log is stored in the app's private storage on your phone, protected by your device's encryption. You can add a PIN or Face ID / fingerprint lock inside the app. Ebb does not keep a separate app-level encrypted database; its lock controls access through the app's own screens.

Apple Health and Health Connect

If you choose to import, Ebb reads cycle data (periods, spotting, cervical mucus, ovulation and pregnancy tests, symptoms and basal body temperature) and, separately, sleep and resting heart rate. Access is read-only, only happens when you ask for it, and the copy stays on your device. Ebb never writes to Apple Health or Health Connect.

You can revoke access in the Health app or in Health Connect at any time, and remove the imported copy inside Ebb.

Imports from other apps

Files you pick, such as a Flo export or an Ebb backup, are read on the device and never uploaded.

Optional model downloads (Android)

If you choose to download an on-device model for meal photo recognition, the download request goes to the model's file host. No diary data or photos are included in that request. Links to sources open in your browser.

Photos

Meal photos you take or choose are processed on the device. You decide per meal whether Ebb keeps a compressed copy or only the details you confirmed. Kept photos stay in private storage that is excluded from phone backups.

Exports

Backups and spreadsheets are files you create and share yourself. Where you send them is up to you. JSON backups include meal details but not photos or model files.

Sharing with a partner

If you choose to, Ebb can make a link with your cycle forecast for a partner: the predicted days of your next three periods, the premenstrual days before them and, only if you switch it on, your estimated fertile window, plus the name you type. Nothing else you log is included. You send the link yourself, with any app you like, or show it as a QR code. Ebb has no server, so the forecast travels inside the link, after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server; the page at tjebbehb.github.io/ebb/partner/ that opens it reads the forecast in the browser only. Anyone who has the link can see those dates, so send it only to your partner. A sent link cannot be withdrawn, but it only covers the dates it shows.

On your partner's phone, the forecast is stored in Ebb's private storage and used to schedule reminders on that phone. Nothing is sent back to you, and you cannot see anything on their phone.

Deleting your data

Settings → Data → Delete all data removes everything from the device. Uninstalling the app does the same.

Children

Ebb is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page and ships with the app update, and the date above is updated. The full history is visible in the project's public source code.
